Immediately following the live event, there was a Public Choice Contest in which the public voted by making a $5 donation to Friends of Dunrovin for each vote cast.  Voting began August 17, 2019 at the event  and continued online through Sunday August 25th.

Poetry in Motion

August 18, 2018

The August 18, 2018, Equine Art Extravaganza was themed as The Horse as Poetry in Motion. Nothing can match the grace and beauty of a horse that is running free.  The events six artist kept motion in mind as they developed their concepts and painted their ponies.

What a GRAND event it was! The artwork was outstanding! Montana Musician, Charla Bauman wrote and sang a special song, Montana Poet Laureate, Lowell Jaeger, and cowboy singer/poet Doug Hogan, punctuated the evening with verses and stories, and Caffe Firenze served a delicious meal.

Equine Art Extravaganza 2017

Horse of a Different Color

August 19, 2017

In spite of evacuations and chaos created by the Lolo Peak fire that raged through the Bitterroot Valley during the week, the inaugural Horse of a Different Color was a success by every measure. Beautifully painted and decorated horses filled the ranch, enthralled participants, and brought much needed joy to valley residents who had been coping with the ravages of the fire. We are most thankful for the resilience, dedication, and determination that the artists, the photographer, the caterer, the musician, and attendees demonstrated by their rallying with such energy and spirit to create such a beautiful experience - an art extravaganza.

Photographer John Ashley's lovely short video of the event tells it all!
